Groundbreaking English-Finnish trio Above & Beyond has created some of the most iconic trance music hits since 2000. The London-based group got their start as a local DJ group performing in the London nightclub scene. Their early stints included comprised opening gigs for renowned Djs, suchas Paul Van Dyk, Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, and more. Soon, the trio, composed of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Silijamaki, became the must-see group in their home country.

Above & Beyond released their debut album Tri-State in 2006. The album was released by their record label, Anjunabeats, founded in 2005. The debut effort showcased the trio’s affinity to progressive trance fans. The album’s top single, “Good For Me,” was described by critics as “one of Above & Beyond’s top pieces of all time.” Meanwhile, renowned DJ Armin Van Buuren featured the single as Tune of the Year in his radio show, A State of Trance. With the success of their debut album, the trio has garnered a rapidly growing following.

By the time they released their sophomore effort, Above & Beyond was no longer just the underdog of trance music. Once an underground favorite, the trio has broken into the mainstream market with their 2011 album, Group Therapy. The record entered the Billboard 200 and the U.K. charts. The 15-track album released eight critically-acclaimed singles, including “Sun & Moon,” “Thing Called Love,” and “Alchemy.” The songs are spread across three years and supported by the group’s extensive touring.

By 2015, Above & Beyond has become a worldwide sensation. Their third studio effort, We Are All We Need, topped Billboard’s Dance/Electronic chart and peaked at number 34 on the Billboard 200. Besides the U.S., the record also entered the charts in eight other countries. The album spawned the hit title track, which earned Above & Beyond their first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. Two years later, the group’s single, “Northern Soul,” from their 2018 album Common Ground, earned them their second Grammy nod. Apart from the Grammys, Above & Beyond has also received numerous accolades, including three International Dance Music Awards, two BBC Radio Awards, and more.
